modelled after an early Ming dynasty prototype, well potted with shallow rounded sides supported on a short tapered foot, finely decorated to the interior in rich tones of cobalt simulating the 'heaping and piling' effect, with a central roundel enclosing a ribbon-tied bouquet of lotus blossoms and other aquatic plants, encircled by a border of composite scroll of camellia, hibiscus, pomegranate, tree peony, rose, lotus and chrysanthemum to the cavetto, all below a band of stylised cloud scroll collaring the rim, the exterior similarly painted with composite scroll of flowers, between a keyfret band at the rim and a further cloud scroll wreathing the foot, the base with a six-character reign mark within a double circle in underglaze blue.
