painted and gilt to the top of the cover with a central stylised shou roundel surrounded by lotus blossoms borne on intertwining foliage and four bats with outstretched wings, the sides of the box similarly decorated, all reserved against a rich turquoise ground, the rims gilt, the base and interiors enamelled in turquoise.
