Note: Bowls of this pattern appear to have been inspired by Chenghua prototypes which vary somewhat in design. Compare with a Chenghua marked blue and white bowl decorated with lança characters above a linked scroll design in the Palace Museum, Beijing, illustrated in The Complete Collection of Treasures of the Palace Museum: Blue and White Porcelain with Underglazed Red, The Complete Collection of Treasures of the Palace Museum, vol. II, Shanghai, 2000, pl. 32.
