The sturdily potted bowl with deep rounded sides rising from a cylindrical foot is boldly carved on the exterior with composite floral sprays including lotus, peony and chrysanthemum, repeated on the inner well encircling a lotus spray in the centre. It is covered with a thick glossy glaze of sea-green tone with the exception of a ring on the base, Japanese wood box.
