The high-shouldered body is painted with large lotus blossoms borne on leafy, scrolling meander set between double-line borders and bands of interlocking scrolls below the rim and above the foot.
Note: A Jiajing-marked jar of identical size and design was offered at Christie's Hong Kong, 13 January 1987, lot 560. A related example, bearing a Wanli rather than Jiajing mark, was sold at Christie's Hong Kong, 30 November 2011, lot 2993.
