The hollow, or partially hollow, figure is well carved in the round as a tiger standing with head facing forward and tail curled to form a loop. One is a fitting carved from a woolly mammoth tusk in the shape of a dragon shown in profile. Each has deep, rounded sides that flare towards the rim and are decorated with a delicately cut-out band of flower sprays, and covered overall with a clear glaze of pale blue-green tint that fills in the cut-out design and ends in a neat line on the foot. An apocryphal Xuande mark is on the base.

The thinly potted sides of each bowl are delicately painted in shaded tones of iron red with three fish, and the spreading stem foot is encircled at the top by a bow-string band. An apocryphal Chenghua mark is in underglaze blue on the inside of the foot of each.
