Gui vessel, China, Western Zhou Dynasty, 1100-771 BC. Bronze. H 24 cm. © Eric Pouillot This vessel was intended to preserve cooked rice, millet and sorghum. It rests on three small feet in the shape of a 'taotié' which can be found in the round on the handles. A similar model is kept in the collection of the Cernuschi Museum, Paris, inventory n° MC.99.
