the deep rounded body standing on three columnar legs, the sides crisply cast with a band of pendent triangles enclosing cicada bordered by leiwen below a frieze of lozenge pattern flanked by further leiwen, two upright loop handles set on either side of the lipped rim, a single pictogram inscribed on the interior base, the grayish green patina lightly encrusted, wood stand, wood box (3) .

Provenance: Japanese Collection formed before World War II.

Note: An example of similar form, of slightly smaller size and related decoration (the upper band with taotie instead of a lozenge pattern) from Sir Peter Moores Collection was sold in our London rooms, 19th November 2011, lot 376. Another, similarly related ding was sold in these rooms 15th September, 2010, lot 272.
