The top of the cover is carved with a medallion enclosing a chrysanthemum flower, surrounded by floral sprays including peony, prunus and narcissus. The exterior of the box is similarly decorated with floral sprays, supported on a short foot. The base bears a four-character seal mark reading 'tihedian zhi', 'Made for the Hall of Manifest Harmony'. The box and cover are both covered in a soft lemon-yellow enamel, box.
