The flattened rounded body raised on a rounded rectangular foot and painted in shaded iron-red on each side with two phoenixes confronted below a flaming pearl amidst underglaze blue composite foliate scroll bearing various iron-red flowers, the small neck flanked by a pair of elephant-head handles. 

Note: Moonflasks with this decoration and Qianlong marks are quite rare. One of slightly smaller size (8 5/8 in. high), also with iron-red decoration, was sold in our Paris rooms, 22 November 2006, lot 326. A larger example (19¼ in. high) substituting pink enamel in place of the iron-red, from the Walter and Phyllis Shorenstein Collection, was sold in our Hong Kong rooms, 1 December 2010, lot 2968.
