The vase is heavily potted with a tapering ovoid body carved with a band of narrow petals between a single rib below and a wide band carved with two bold peony sprays above. The trumpet-shaped neck is carved with a band of upright leaves rising to a horizontally ribbed band below the flared mouth rim. The vase is covered overall with a glaze of sea-green color that pools to a darker tone in the recesses, Japanese double wood box.
