A jadeite double-gourd shaped pendant
Lot 3171. A jadeite double-gourd shaped pendant; 2 in. (5 cm.) long. Estimate HKD 150,000 - HKD 200,000. Price realised HKD 212,500. © Christie’s Image Ltd 2014.
The pendant is shaped as a double gourd issuing intertwining tendrils, with a small lady bug clambering on top and a cicada crawling on one side. The semi-translucent stone is of a very attractive apple-green tone with a few minute dark specks, polished to a glassy sheen.
Note: An identification report from Hong Kong Jade & Stone Laboratory Limited confirms that the present lot is natural green jadeite.
