Lot 248. A white jade 'chilong' cup and a spinach jade cup stand, the cup Ming dynasty, 16th century, the cup stand later. The cup: 3 3/4 in. (12.1 cm.) across the handles. Estimate HKD 200,000 - HKD 300,000. Price realised HKD 400,000. © Christie's Image Ltd 2015
The cup is crisply carved with a pair of handles formed as two chilong clambering up the steep rounded sides with their forelegs and heads raised above the rim of the cup. The semi-translucent stone is of a creamy-white tone. The spinach jade stand is finely carved with a lobed saucer raised on a conforming tall foot, box.
