The vessel is intricately carved with two cylindrical vases decorated with dense archaic motifs. They are adjoined by a phoenix with its wings outspread and fanned tail protruding onto the reverse side, standing atop a winged bear recumbent at the base of the vases. The stone is of dark green tone; wood stand

Note: A smiliar celadon jade champion vase, also dating to the Ming dynasty is in the Beijing Palace Museum Collection.
