With a molded rectangular top above a pair of doors mounted with engraved brass hinges and lock plates enclosing five drawers, the stand with a waved apron on cabriole legs and hoof feet, the panels depicting mountainous landscapes with cranes and foliage, one bearing an old label inscribed with the provenance of the Russian Ambassador Tatischeff, Vienna 1841, one stand of a later date.
Provenance: Count Dmitry Pavlovich Tatischev (1767-1845), according to label to underside.
Note: Count Dmitry Pavlovich Tatischev (1767-1845) was an influential Russian diplomat. Throughout his carreer he served at the courts of Naples, Spain, and the Netherlands before being deployed to Vienna in 1826 where he died in 1845. He was a passionate art collector and during his travels he purchased numerous works by artists such as van Eyck.
