The Goddess of Mercy modelled in a relaxed seated pose with the right hand resting on the right leg tucked beneath her, the left hand holding a ruyi sceptre resting on a table with lion-heads forming the legs, the eyes gently downcast, the long robe covering the body and falling in flowing folds to surround the body.

Provenance: a distinguished American private collection

Note: The modelling and hairstyle are similar to a seated figure of Guanyin, He Chaozong mark, 17th century, which was sold at Bonhams London, 16 May 2013, lot 18.
