Note: Funerary jars of this type usually occur in pairs, one adorned with the 'Green Dragon of the East' and the other the 'White Tiger of the West'. Compare a similar jar in the Indianapolis Museum of Art, illustrated in Yutaka Mino and Katherine R. Tsiang, Ice and Green Clouds. Traditions of Chinese Celadons, Indiana, 1987, pl. 75.
