Lot 1885. A Highly Rare and Important 'Imperial Green' Jadeite and Diamond Parure. Lot sold: 46,355,000 HKD (Estimate Upon Request)© Sotheby's 2022

Comprising: a necklace, composed of ten highly translucent oval jadeite cabochons of intense emerald green colour weighing 176.93 carats in total, decorated with brilliant-cut diamonds; and a pair of earrings and ring en suite, set with three oval jadeite cabochons weighing 54.77 carats in total; all mounted in 18 karat white gold, necklace length approximately 420mm, earrings with post and hinged back fittings, ring size 6½.

Necklace jadeite approximately 19.00 x 16.05 x 7.86 to 17.65 x 14.27 x 7.10mm. 

Earrings jadeite approximately 17.95 x 15.51 x 5.75mm and 17.66 x 15.52 x 5.30mm.

Ring jadeite approximately 20.05 x 18.45 x 6.45mm.

Accompanied by three Hong Kong Jade & Stone Laboratory certificates no. SJ 207235, SJ 207236 and SJ 207237, all dated 10 December 2021, each stating that the jadeite tested is natural, known in the trade as "A Jade".

Further accompanied by three Gübelin reports and appendix no. 22031156, 22031157/1 and 2 and 2203119, all dated 23 March 2022, each stating that the jadeite are with no indications of treatment and may also be called "Type A" in the trade.  Gübelin Appendix further stating that ''... the most sought after colour is a deep, emerald green colour referred to as "imperial green"...A matched set of thirteen natural jadeites described in the above mentioned Gübelin Gem Lab reports posses evenly saturated green colouration, referred to as 'imperial green', combined with the high translucency as well as their fine texture'.

Set with a carved jadeite pepper of highly translucent intense emerald green colour, suspended from a brilliant-cut diamond surmount, the surrounding side accented by brilliant-cut diamonds, the reverse decorated with brilliant-cut diamonds, pear- and marquise-shaped sapphires and a square ruby, to a black cord, mounted in 18 karat white gold.

Jadeite approximately 57.00 x 22.00 x 11.15mm.

Accompanied by Hong Kong Jade & Stone Laboratory certificate no. SJ 207226, dated 10 December 2021, stating that the jadeite is natural, known in the trade as "A Jade"Also accompanied by Gübelin report and appendix no. 22021210, dated 17 March 2022, stating that the jadeite is natural, with no indications of treatment and may also be called "Type A" in the trade.  Gübelin Appendix further stating '... the most sought after colour is a deep, emerald green colour referred to as "imperial green".... The natural jadeite jade described in the above...possesses a richly saturated and evenly green colouration, referred to as "imperial green", combined with the high translucency as well as their very fine texture...makes this green jadeite jade a piece of outstanding beauty and importance'.

Set with an oval jadeite cabochon weighing 17.55 carats, of brilliant emerald green colour and very good translucency, decorated with brilliant-cut, pear- and marquise-shaped diamonds, mounted in 18 karat white gold, size 7¼.

Jadeite cabochon approximately 18.62 x 14.86 x 8.01mm.

Accompanied by Gübelin report no. 21121159, dated 21 December 2021, stating that the jadeite is natural, with no indications of treatment and may also be called "Imperial Jade" in the trade. This term refers to the finest specimen of "Type A" jadeite jade.
