Lot 23. A painted pottery figure of a guardian, Wei Dynasty (386-550 AD); 30cm (11 7/8in) high. Sold for 2,550 € (Estimate 500-800 €). Photo Fabrice Gousset.
The standing foreigner wearing full armour and a helmet framing the face with prominent features set in a scowl, the right arm held at the side whilst the left hand resting on a long shield in front.
Provenance: Robert Rousset, Paris (1901-1981), acquired prior to 1935.
Jean-Pierre Rousset, Paris (1936-2021).
