Each in seated poise kneeling, with the body slightly swayed to one side atop a rectangular base, the well-defined faces below double knot hair chignons, with traces of black and red pigments. Lot 42. A rare documentary pottery figure of a groom, Late Tang Dynasty, dated by inscription to 868 AD and of the period; 37cm (14 1/2in) high. Sold for €4,845 (Estimate 300 € - 500 €). The standing figure well-modelled, dressed in a long robe falling to the feet in heavy folds and concealing her hands, framed by the soft coiffure drawn up into a large loop.
