Hot-water bowl, Ming dynasty, 16th century

The interior is painted with a figure-subject, much rubbed, in bluish-green enamel and outlined in black, within a border of chrysanthemum scrolls and foliage, outlined in red and reserved in white on a green ground. The outside is decorated with a wide band of the same flowers similarly executed between a border of formal ornament in bluish-green and black and a row of lotus-petals in red.
