One is a fitting carved from a woolly mammoth tusk in the shape of a dragon shown in profile. Each has deep, rounded sides that flare towards the rim and are decorated with a delicately cut-out band of flower sprays, and covered overall with a clear glaze of pale blue-green tint that fills in the cut-out design and ends in a neat line on the foot. An apocryphal Xuande mark is on the base.

The thinly potted sides of each bowl are delicately painted in shaded tones of iron red with three fish, and the spreading stem foot is encircled at the top by a bow-string band. An apocryphal Chenghua mark is in underglaze blue on the inside of the foot of each.

Both the baluster body and trumpet-shaped neck are painted in tones of rich underglaze blue with scenes of fishermen in mountainous river landscapes between dentil borders at the foot and mouth rim. A double circle in underglaze blue is on the base.
