Lot 247. A 'Longquan' tripod censer, Ming dynasty (1368-1644). Height 6 1/8 in., 15.6 cm. Estimate 10,000 — 15,000 USD. © Sotheby's the lobed globular body raised on three tapering feet, the everted rim supporting two 'rope twist' loop handles, each lobe freely carved with a floral spray below a cloud scroll at the rim, applied overall with a rich sea-green glaze stopping irregularly above the base of the feet to reveal the body burnt orange in the firing.
