Lot 492. A blue and white 'dragon' double-gourd vase, Ming dynasty, 16th century; 45.5 cm, 17 7/8  in. Estimate 30,000 — 40,000 HKD. Courtesy Sotheby's. deftly painted with three five-clawed dragons soaring sinuously amidst flames and lingzhi-shaped clouds above crashing waves, one around the upper bulb and two on the lower, interrupted by lappet bands encircling the constricted waist, all between a border of pendent plantain leaves at the mouth and upright lappets skirting the foot. Lot 488. A blue and white 'dragon' double-gourd vase, Mark and period of Jiajing (1522-1566); 11.3 cm, 4 1/2  in. Estimate 150,000 — 200,000 HKD. Courtesy Sotheby's. supported on a countersunk base, the upper bulb with an incurved rim and painted to the exterior with two dragons soaring amidst flames and ruyi-shaped clouds, the lower bulb similarly decorated with two further dragons above crashing waves, the base inscribed with a six-character reign mark. ... Lot 2199. A rare doucai 'Dragon' double-gourd vase, Qing dynasty, 18th century; 6 5/8 in. (16.8 cm.) high. Estimate HKD 800,000 - HKD 1,500,000. Price realised HKD 1,340,000. © Christie's Image Ltd 2012 The vase is elegantly potted with an olive-shaped upper bulb above a compressed globular body, applied with two high arched handles.
