Lot 9365. Two Dehua porcelain libation cups, Qing dynasty. Estimate US$ 1,000 - 1,500 (€900 - 1,400). Photo Bonhams. Gang found guilty in $79 million jade, rhino horn theft plot from museums across Britain

 1769 jade bowl stolen from the Oriental Museum at Durham University.  LONDON (AFP).- Four leaders of a crime gang were convicted Monday of plotting to steal jade and rhino horn artefacts worth £57 million ($79 million, 73 million euros) from museums across Britain to export illegally to China. Ten more men have already been convicted of the same crime, including Chi Cheong Donald Wong -- a London-based intermediary who would find buyers for the stolen items and made frequent trips to Hong Kong. A... A Dehua figure of the seated Buddha, 18th-19th century. Photo Christie's Image Ltd 2014 The figure is modeled seated in dhyanasana on a double-lotus base, with one hand resting on one knee and the other held in shuni mudra. Dressed in long flowing robes and a loose shawl, he wears a beaded necklace centered by a wan symbol on his chest. The face has a serene expression below the tight curls of hair surrounding the usnisha. An illegible seal is impressed on the back. A large Dehua libation cup. 明代 Ming Dynasty, 崇禎 Chongzhen Period (1628-1644)

A large Dehua libation cup. 明代 Ming Dynasty, 崇禎 Chongzhen Period (1628-1644) modeled in the form of a rhinoceros horn with applied decoration covered in a creamy translucent glaze. On one side is a stag with overhanging clouds and peony branches and to the other side prunus branches and a dragon descending from clouds while another dragon appears between upright rocks.
