Photo: Ole Haupt With the left hand grasping her veil and the right hand holding a loop of the veil, this unknown Palmyrene woman is eloquently depicted in three-quarter view. Her abundant jewelry and elegant turban underscore her privileged status.

Identified by the Palmyrene inscription on the upper left of the limestone slab, this figure, holding a sprig of laurel, represents the priest Mariôn, whose priestly status is indicated by his modius (official flat-topped hat).
