Stem Cup with Dragon Pursuing Flaming Jewel, China, Jiangxi province, Jingdezhen kilns, Yuan dynasty (1271-1368). Porcelain with underglaze cobalt blue and molded decoration. Diameter: 13.3 cm (5 1/4 in.); Overall: 11.8 cm (4 5/8 in.). The Cleveland Museum of Art, Severance and Greta Millikin Collection 1964.169. The stem cup as a porcelain vessel shape was introduced to China by the Mongols from Northeast Asia when they ruled the country in the 14th century.

Blue and white porcelain huqqa base in melon form, Jingdezhen, Jiangxi province, China, 17th century, 15.5cm high. Amir Mohtashemi Ltd at Brafa Art Fair, Brussels, 21-29 january 2017. The huqqa base has a squat globular melon-like form. Painted in underglaze blue with a band of standing leaves above the drip guard.
