Stem Cup with Dragon Pursuing Flaming Jewel, China, Jiangxi province, Jingdezhen kilns, Yuan dynasty (1271-1368). Porcelain with underglaze cobalt blue and molded decoration. Diameter: 13.3 cm (5 1/4 in.); Overall: 11.8 cm (4 5/8 in.). The Cleveland Museum of Art, Severance and Greta Millikin Collection 1964.169. The stem cup as a porcelain vessel shape was introduced to China by the Mongols from Northeast Asia when they ruled the country in the 14th century.
