Bowl, 13th century. Unidentified, Vietnamese. Ly or Tran dynasty. Stoneware with celadon glaze. H: 9.0 W: 20.0 D: 20.0 cm. Vietnam. F1968.59. Smithsonian's Freer Gallery of Art Celadon glaze appears on ceramics made in northern Vietnam as early as the first century. This bowl shows the distinctive celadon glaze developed by Vietnamese potters working with the pale gray, fine-grained clay of the Red River Delta. Smithsonian's Freer Gallery of Art www.asia.si.edu
