Doyle to auction Asian works of art on September 11

Rings of leaves encircle the upper and lower rims, while a pair of foliate handles and a wonderfully carved base in the form of a flower in bloom further accentuate this delicate, semi-translucent Chinese objet d'art. 4 1/2" wide x 2 3/4" high. Of irregular shape retaining some contours of the original boulder, the flat rim flanges or handles reticulated as floral sprays and leaves, the thinly sectioned walls of the deep, curving well carved on the exterior with registers of chrysanthemum petals and the underside of the elliptical foot similarly finished; the pale greenish-white matrix displaying cloudy white inclusions and some natural surface fissure lines. 6 7/8in (17.5cm) long. Two Mughal style white jade snuff bottles

A Mughal style white jade snuff bottle. 1800-1880. photo Bonhams Of flattened ovoid form, wide mouth, and very thin lip that is complimented by a tall foot rim, thinly carved to reveal a deeply recessed base. Each side of the body carved with a near identical scene of the buddha seated upon a lotus and surrounded by foliage, with a tourmaline stopper and turquoise and vinyl collar. 2 1/2in (5.9cm).
