Kunstkammer Georg Laue of Munich exhibits the Humboldt cup at TEFAF Maastricht, the world's leading art and antiques fair (16-25 March 2012). This rare cup was owned in the 18th century by Alexander von Humboldt, the German naturalist and explorer. Hiroshi Suzuki, 'Ayawind I' @ Adrian Sassoon, TEFAF Maastricht

Adrian Sassoon will bring 'Ayawind I' to TEFAF Maastricht (16-25 March 2012), made by Hiroshi Suzuki (1961) in 2011. Using nothing more than a hammer, Suzuki conjures from single flat sheets of silver, free flowing, organic sculptural vessels which owe more to the warm fluidity of nature than to the cold rigidity of metal. By combining the discipline of traditional skill with an entirely intuitive working practice, he has developed a unique and very personal visual language. Drawing on both East and West, his work combines a... [Lire la suite]

Lucio Fontana, Concetto spaziale, Attese, 1966.

Tornabuoni Art (Paris) is one of the new exhibitors at TEFAF. The dealer will present thirty major works by Lucio Fontana (1899-1968) among which this painting: Concetto spaziale, Attese, made in 1966. From the 1960s onwards, Fontana made his famous paintings with slashes. With his spatial concepts, he radically changed the way to conceive and make a painting. The canvas is no longer used to deposit colours, it is a monochrome space that needs to exist as such and the only actions allowed are no longer additive but subtractive in a... [Lire la suite]

Moreover, it is one of only six known examples in which the bouquet is placed before an arched window embrasure with an open-air background. Whilst he most likely took his inspiration from earlier Netherlandish prints, Ambrosius seems to have been... [Lire la suite]

Gianmaria Buccellati's Grand Baroque Set @ TEFAF Maastricht

The Grand Baroque Set, is a Buccellati creation to celebrate both TEFAF’s jubilee and the reunification of two branches of the Buccellati family under one single brand: two events that needed to have an iconic object to represent them. This set is a combination of baroque pearls and a delicate decoration of vine leaves, rich and sumptuous in its original concept, but very simple for the materials used. Baroque pearls are totally unusual for such a necklace and they represent stylized bunches of grapes among golden leaves,... [Lire la suite]
