Large Tureen with Mascaron Handles. Gdansk, late 17th Century, Peter Rhode III. Photo Van Ham Partly gilt silver, gilt interior. Oval, scalloped base with corresponding rounded body and high, domed slip lid. Hinged handles on the sides, decorated with female mascarons. The sides are richly decorated with fine, partially punched relief decor and strap work. Opposed on the sides and centrally set on the upper face of the lid are large, oval cartouches hung with mascarons and fruit garlands or flanked by cherubs...
