A Hellenistic Gold Griffin, circa 3rd-1st Century BCE. Image courtesy Romanov Russia. A suspension ring and a bail were recently attached to make the griffin a wearable pendant. With additions of copper 1.634%, silver 26.84%, zinc 0.055%, nickel (-) 0.044%. Width – 28 mm (1 1/16 in.). Weight – 2.41 grams The hollow gold griffin is made from two die-stamped halves soldered together. The collar and tail are made of applied gold beads.
