Lot 212. Two celadon jade 'bird' plaques, Shang dynasty - Western Zhou dynasty. Length 9.3 and 9.2 cm, 3⅝ and 3⅝ in. Estimate: 3,000 - 5,000 GBP. Lot sold 6,250 GBP. Courtesy Sotheby's. each of flat elongated triangular section with angular head and a pointed beak, carved with large eyes and parallel lines delineating wings, the stone of yellowish-green tone with areas of calcification.
