Tea Bowl, named ‘Hatsushigure’, Shigaraki ware, Momoyama period, late 16th - early 17th century. Stoneware with natural ash glaze. H.8.8 MD.13.0×11.9 BD.7.0×6.3 ©2014 MOA MUSEUM OF ART This bowl, coated with an overlay of clay and fired, has burnt to a dark purplish brown color, with reddish yellow ash glaze partially covering the body and the foot creating a beautiful scenery, from which the bowl has been named "Hatsushigure", meaning the first wintry shower.
