The head, center section and tip inset with jadeite plaques carved in relief with various scenes incorporating a qilin, phoenix and lion, set into the gilt-metal filagree shaft inlaid in kingfisher feather, the tip set with an orange silk tassle; 22½ in. Carved in the form of a log boat, the well-hollowed out vessel fashioned with bird-form awnings on either side sheltering a wizened Zhang Qian piloting his pine-bough raft through the waters, the honey-colored horn shading to a deep brown tone. 10 1/2 inches (26.8 cm) long - Estimate: $60,000 - 80,000
