A large German silver standing cup and cover, Theodor Strube, Leipzig, circa 1843 the base applied with the city arms of Leipzig and acanthus leaves, the stem decorated with palmettes, the rim of the cup with two realistically tooled masks and applied with flower heads, the cup inscribed Ihrem Commandanten Herrn Major Adolph Wilhelm Aster die Communalgarde Leipzigs 1843, the reverse with applied coat-of-arms possibly that of the Aster family, the finial a woman holding the arms of the Duchy of Saxony, marked at the rim -...
