Teapot with chinoiserie decorations, Delft, ca. 1695 - ca. 1715, faience, h 12cm x D 19cm. BK-NM-12400-211. Donation of the heirs of Mr JF Loudon, The Hague, 1916. Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam. Drinking coffee and tea came at the end of the 17th century in fashion. The objects that were needed here, were often appropriate exotic shapes and decorations. The handle of this tea pot has the shape of a bamboo; flower patterns, in a limited palette of green, blue and red, are examples of Asian porcelain.
