The well and heavily-potted vase has a compressed globular body raised on a spreading foot and tapers to a tall cylindrical neck. The exterior is covered with a glaze of dark blue color in contrast to the white rim and interior. 13¾ in. (34.9 cm.) high, wood stand. Estimate $100,000 - $150,000

The vase is well painted in fifteenth century style in rich underglaze blue, with simulated 'heaping and piling', on each side with a central roundel composed of a bat in flight amidst fruiting peach branches surrounded by peony meander bearing six large and six smaller blooms borne on leafy scrolling stems that continue onto the narrow sides below the dragon handles. The high-shouldered, tapering body has a short, upright neck and is decorated in low relief with leafy chrysanthemum scroll bearing four blossoms shown full face.
