PHILADELPHIA, PA.- Temple Gallery is pleased to announce the exhibition, "Damian Moppett, After the Fall," which will run from November 16, 2007 - February 17, 2008. It will be the first one-person exhibition in the U.S. for the Canadian artist.
Moppett is part of a generation of young conceptual artists based in Vancouver, including Brian Jungen, Kelly Wood, Scott McFarland and Tim Lee, who have critically traced the work of their predecessors Jeff Wall, Stan Douglas, Roy Arden, and others. These younger artists have responded very consciously to Vancouver conceptualism in their attempt to be more wide-ranging and informal in their pursuit of subject matter; in their interest in the shared references of popular culture rather than an idea of the avant-garde; and in exploration of institutions, including their own art school training.
