A star ruby and diamond ring

Set with a cabochon star ruby, weighing 5.46 carats, flanked on either side by a trio of trilliant-cut diamonds, mounted in 18k white gold, diamonds approximately 0.80 carat total, ring size 5 1/4. Estimate: HK$110,000 - 150,000, $14,000 - 19,000 - Non adjugé.

Note: Accompanied by a certificate from Gubelin Gem Laboratory, stating that the star ruby is purplish-red, transparent and displays a distinct and well-centred asterism (star effect). The certificate also states that the star ruby originates from Burma and has no indications of heating. Report number 0610234, dated 31st October 2006.
