A very rare kinrande pear-shaped ewer - 16th century

The flattened body moulded in slight relief on both sides with a heart-shaped panel originally gilt with dense leafy foliage now rather worn, within iron-red cell pattern reserved with turquoise squares and iron-red lobed oval plain cartouches, a band of stiff leaves below the cup-shaped rim (old repair and some regilding, handle stabilized with an old bronze support), Japanese hardwood box. 24cm (9½in) high. (2). Estimate: £18,000 - 20,000 - Unsold.
