A large silk-embroidered 'Hundred Birds' hanging, 18th/19th century
Embroidered with myriad birds including peacock, peahen, cranes, honeysuckle and other birds, perched on a gnarled tree and on pierced rockwork, beside bamboo and tree peony by a pond with swimming ducks, with egrets and herons at its bank, all reserved on a shimmering peach-gold ground, mounted, framed and glazed. The embroidery 210cm x 151cm (82¾in x 59½in). Sold for £8,400
