Porcelain dish painted in red and green enamels with the addition of turquoise green. Iside are a rock, a flowering peach tree, a parrot and the sun disc. Similar designs outside. Marked on the base with the mark of Zhengde within a double ring of red. Five small holes drilled in the base, probably owner's mark.
The use of overglaze enamels was greatly expanded during the Ming dynasty (1368-1644). This dish is an example of the brilliance of the colours and the freeness of the painting achieved by the middle years of that period.
