painted with a scene of a mountainous river landscape with rocks, a fishermen steering a boat on the lake below birds in flight, two scholars in conversation on a rocky bank, and another walking towards a pavilion, all below floral sprays and a single bowstring band around the neck.

Note: A rouleau vase with a T-form and ruyi bands around the neck and a similarly well painted landscape but of larger size is in the Shanghai Museum, illustrated in Kangxi Porcelain Wares, Hong Kong 1998, pl. 52, and two examples are in the Palace Museum, Beijing, one illustrated in Kangxi, Yongzheng, Qianlong, Hong Kong 1989, p. 18, no. 1 and the other in Blue and White Porcelain with Underglaze Red (III) - The Complete Collection of Treasures of the Palace Museum, Hong Kong, 2000, pl. 15.
