carved in the form of a flattened bird facing forward with a closed beak, its feathery wings resting at its sides and pointing to a streamlined display of feathers at its tail, the body intricately detailed with fine incised lines picking out each plume, all supported on a hollowed foot for fitting atop a vessel, the stone of an even celadon-white colour with white inclusions and attractive faint russet streaks, wood stand; 9.6 cm., 3 3/4 in.
