The exterior is decorated with the characters ji xiang ru yi ('May you have auspiciousness and your wishes fulfilled') in blue on a fine pink diaper ground within four quadrilobed panels separated by four iron-red bats suspending chimes amidst foliate sprays, all on a pale lime-green ground between ruyi and dot borders. The mouth rim is gilded and the interior and base are covered in turquoise enamel. 3 3/8 in. (8.6 cm.) diam.
