The shape of this magnificent Cup and the quality of the glass section refer to the Saxon Hofglashütte in Dresden, which started to produce in 1700's. The decor shows on one side the coat of arms of Castile and Aragon, on the other the globe, accompanied by symbols and Latin inscription en, which relate to the claim to power of the House of Habsburg. A tape on the lid refers to Emperor Charles VI. (reg. 1711-1740).
The baroque court etiquette required such expressive carrier of emblems. This trophy has been on the health of the emperor drank (> Vivat glass <). He was probably a gift from Augustus the Strong of Saxony (reg. 1694-1733) and also a proof of performance for the Saxon manufactory beings. SN
