Man’s ring, c. 1725 - c. 1750
Man’s ring, c. 1725 - c. 1750, silver, gold, diamond, h 1.9cm × w 2.1cm × d 2.3cm. NG-2011-24. Purchased with the support of the Maria Adriana Aalders Fonds/Rijksmuseum Fonds, 2011. Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam.
At the upper side of the ring is busy with an oval rose diamond put in smooth conversion on foil . Around a border with rose cut diamonds mounted in a narrow shin flared base , shoulders set with rose cut diamonds between two large rose diamonds. The inner ring is made of red gold. The ring is not approved. The central diamond has not been lifted probably in later time to be put in new film. In the twentieth century, the ring is provided with two gold globules in the seemed to make the ring suitable for a narrower finger.
