Pink diamonds are recognized as extremely rare, along with the internally flawless clarity, it is consider the rarest collectable of the niche. The increase in rarity together with their popularity has significantly driven pink diamond prices up, they are often utilized as additions to investment portfolios as excellent alternative investments. In usual case, a pure colored diamond without any secondary hue should be more valuable. However, this is different with pink color diamonds, as a result of its magnificent appearance, a purplish pink diamond is considered most popular in the market today. The 5.70 carats fancy purplish pink diamond we are presenting in the fall auction 2017 not only has a sweet feminine allure but also is consider as a type II A diamond with internally flawless clarity, which are generally more desired by collectors.

The 5.70 carat Fancy Purplish- Pink diamonds falls into the Type 2a diamond category, which accounts for only up to 2% of all diamonds. Type 2a diamonds are the most chemically pure and often have exceptional optical transparency. Type 2a diamonds contain almost no impurities, and are free from the more common nitrogen impurities within the crystal lattice found in Type1 diamonds.

In gemology, clarity refers to the presence or absence of internal and surface reaching characteristics, which might affect a diamond’s face up appearance and durability. The GIA clarity scale reflects the relative size, nature, number, relief and position of internal and surface characteristics that are visible at 10x magnification.

An internally flawless designation is a remarkable and rare achievement for any diamond, let alone one of such rare color. A gem that earns this clarity grade is a product of both excellent fortune in nature and the expertise of a master cutter. In past GIA studies of pink diamonds, fewer than 7% attained this clarity grade.
